California Building Industry Hall of Fame Announces 2007 Honorees.


SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Six leaders in the homebuilding industry have been named to the California Building Industry Hall of Fame. The honorees are being inducted for contributions that have resulted in the advancement of homebuilding, construction, development, marketing, finance, or related services within the building industry in California.

The 2007 Hall of Fame honorees are: Barry A. Berkus, B3 Architects/Berkus Design Studio, Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850. ; Donald Chaiken, Davidon Homes, Walnut Creek Walnut Creek, residential city (1990 pop. 60,569), Contra Costa co., W Calif., in the San Francisco Bay area; inc. 1914. It is the trade and shipping center of an extensive agricultural area where walnuts are among the major product. ; Rodney DeLuca, Rod DeLuca Development Company, Fresno; Stephen Doyle Stephen Doyle (born 13 July 1981) is a South Australian Australian rules football player with the Sydney Swans of the AFL.

Doyle was selected by the Swans under the father-son rule in the 1999 National Draft.
, Brookfield Homes, San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. The new members will be formally inducted at the 23rd Annual Hall of Fame Awards Dinner on May 29 at the Westin St. Francis Hotel The Westin St. Francis is a luxury hotel in the Union Square district of San Francisco, California. The hotel opened on March 21, 1904. The interior was destroyed in the 1906 Earthquake but the structure survived and the hotel re-opened in late 1907.  in San Francisco.

About the Building Industry Hall of Fame: During the past 22 years, the California Building Industry Foundation has inducted 156 men and women into its prestigious Hall of Fame, recognizing homebuilding industry leaders whose contributions have resulted in the long-term advancement of homebuilding, construction, development, marketing, finance, or related services within the building industry in California.

Honorees are also recognized for their contributions to civic, social, and philanthropic organizations in their communities.

The California Building Industry Foundation is the research and education center for California's building and construction industries. Founded in 1978 through the California Building Industry Association, the Foundation serves the industry by providing research, scholarships, educational and professional development programs.
