LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 4, 1998--Shunning the 9-to-5 job, relaxing on the beach in Hawaii -- perhaps the successful entrepreneur's destination or once the dream of two young college graduates who aspired to just have fun.

Waikiki Willie's "Escape To The Islands -- Endless Summer Weekend" Grand Opening Luau Celebration is set to splash Sept. 11 and 12 from 3 p.m.-8 p.m., during the restaurant's regular hours of 11:30 a.m. to midnight.

The college-grad-beachcombing-paradise-dream-team: DeShong, once bouncer, waiter, bartender-turned manager, and Watson, once-cook-turned-head bartender, met while doing these non-9-to-5 jobs in 1976 at the Rose & Crown Sing Along English Pub in Waikiki.

In 1980, these seasoned, aspiring restaurateurs pooled their funds together with Tony Miloni (now vice president) to open the very first Moose McGillycuddy's Pub & Cafe in Waikiki.

Other `Moose' locations followed in Honolulu and Lahaina, Hawaii Lahaina is the largest town and census-designated place (CDP) in West Maui, Maui County, Hawaii, United States, and the gateway to the famous Kaanapali and Kapalua beach resorts north of town. As of the 2000 Census, the CDP had a resident population of 9,118. , expanding into the mainland with sites in Pacific Beach, Calif.; San Diego; Las Vegas; and three in Los Angeles, with more planned to open in Southern California.
