2. of $21.6 million in federal funding grants to 34 local service partnerships with over 1,900 AmeriCorps members. These public and private organizations are participating in the fifth year of the national service, and were selected through a highly competitive state grants process. The monies will be used to fund the service delivery of the California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W).
