SAN JOSE San Jose, city, United States
San Jose (sănəzā`, săn hōzā`), city (1990 pop. 782,248), seat of Santa Clara co., W central Calif.; founded 1777, inc. 1850.
, Calif. -- Calient Networks, a leading supplier of carrier-class optical switching and fiber management systems, today announced an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  agreement with Cornet Technology, Inc. (CTI (Computer Telephone Integration) Combining data with voice systems in order to enhance telephone services. For example, automatic number identification (ANI) allows a caller's records to be retrieved from the database while the call is routed to the appropriate party. ), a leading communications solution integrator to the federal government sector, to provide Calient's new DiamondWave[R] FiberConnect system to key high performance networks.

Calient's FiberConnect represents a price and reliability breakthrough in fiber optic cross-connection systems (FOCS FOCS Foundations Of Computer Science

). The FOCS solution has experienced an order-of-magnitude cost decrease in the past two years through a series of manufacturing and design breakthroughs. Under the new partnership, CTI's Cornet Technology Communications division will market and sell Calient's FiberConnect FOCS solution under the name ClearWave to government and military agencies, thereby bringing the benefits of low-cost, sophisticated, and automated fiber management and test to these agencies' networks.

"The same low cost and high reliability features that make FiberConnect an ideal fiber management solution for carrier networks can also apply to government networks," stated Calient Networks CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Charles Corbalis. "FiberConnect allows an operator to remotely monitor, test, restore, and reconfigure a fiber network, thereby dramatically streamlining the operations of increasingly complex networks. While this makes commercial FTTX deployments more economical and operationally viable, it also provides government networks with the high degree of reliability, access and flexibility required for mission-critical operations. With the recent rise in government and defense network requests-for-proposal, our newest partner, CTI, will be instrumental in helping Calient remain a leader in FOCS solutions deployed by this, their target market. CTI is a highly-respected integration expert in government applications, and we look forward to working side-by-side with them on these demanding opportunities."

"Calient is an outstanding technology partner for us in this area of growth," added Tom Bennett For other persons of the same name, see Thomas Bennett.

"Our companies' strengths are extremely well-matched, and CTI's track record of success with the agencies soliciting tenders in high-performance networking is very strong. This agreement further strengthens the broad range of network solutions that Cornet Technology can offer these sectors."

Calient's FOCS solutions have been deployed in commercial and government fiber optic networks since 2002. In addition to carrier Central Office environments, they are now being applied in the rapidly growing FTTX market to help service providers accelerate service delivery and create hands-free fiber provisioning. Mid-to-large scale carriers have asked Calient to help them address the growing mountains of unmanaged fiber resulting from the 30% growth/year in their fiber plants (Bot.) plants capable of yielding fiber useful in the arts, as hemp, flax, ramie, agave, etc.
