Calico Commerce Appoints Andersen Consulting Luminary Joel Friedman to Board of Directors.

Calico Commerce (Nasdaq: CLIC), a leading provider of eBusiness applications that enable companies to sell over the Web, today announced the appointment of Andersen Consulting luminary Joel Friedman, 52, to the company's board of directors. Friedman's appointment increases the Calico board of directors from five to six members.

Friedman brings a wealth of executive management and consulting experience to Calico's board of directors, including work with companies ranging from the Fortune 100 to new start-ups and technology players. Friedman currently serves as a partner in Andersen Consulting Ventures, the venture capital unit of Andersen Consulting, which was developed to help entrepreneurs build companies that can transform industries and, ultimately, generate superior economic returns.

Prior to joining Andersen Consulting ventures, Friedman spent 19 years as a partner of Andersen Consulting, serving as a managing partner, as well as a client partner for some of the firm's largest Financial Services clients. Most recently, he was the global managing partner, Banking and Financial Markets. Friedman specializes in the financial services industries in areas involving competitive strategy, product development, pricing, operations and technology, with a focus on e-Commerce and payments. He joined Andersen Consulting in 1971. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has served as an author on a number of articles and studies, including Vision 2000:The Transformation of Banking, a major study of the industry's future direction.
