Calian Announces Vendor of Record Contract with Ontario Energy Board.

KANATA, ONTARIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 1999--CALIAN (TSE:CTY) Calian Technology Ltd. (TSE: CTY) is pleased to announce that it has signed a Vendor of Record contract with the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) to provide Information Technology (IT) services.

Working with Calian in this successful bid were Ericsson's Professional Services Group, a business unit of Ericsson Communications Inc., and Howe & Company Inc., a Toronto-based corporate communications firm. After a rigorous qualification process, the professional services team provided through this alliance has qualified to provide services to the OEB in a wide range of roles under the Vendor of Record agreement. These services include information architecture, network and communications architecture, Internet/Intranet-related services, security requirements and assessments, business analysis, change management and facilitation services.

The current Vendor of Record agreement with Calian is related to the OEB's expanded mandate enabled Bill 35, under which the provincial government is moving to a competitive market for the production and retailing of electricity in Ontario. The Vendor of Record agreement with Calian gives the OEB the ability to contract directly with Calian for services in specified roles for a period of two years, with an option to renew.
