Calian Announces Vendor of Record Contract with Ontario Energy Board.
Working with Calian in this successful bid were Ericsson's Professional Services Group, a business unit of Ericsson Communications Inc., and Howe & Company Inc., a Toronto-based corporate communications firm. After a rigorous qualification process, the professional services team provided through this alliance has qualified to provide services to the OEB in a wide range of roles under the Vendor of Record agreement. These services include information architecture, network and communications architecture, Internet/Intranet-related services, security requirements and assessments, business analysis, change management and facilitation services.
The current Vendor of Record agreement with Calian is related to the OEB's expanded mandate enabled Bill 35, under which the provincial government is moving to a competitive market for the production and retailing of electricity in Ontario. The Vendor of Record agreement with Calian gives the OEB the ability to contract directly with Calian for services in specified roles for a period of two years, with an option to renew.
Larry O'Brien, Calian Chairman & CEO commented, "Calian has worked with both the Ontario Energy Board and National Energy Board in the development of processes and standards for electronic regulatory filings. We're delighted with the opportunity to continue to work with the Ontario Energy Board as it develops e-commerce solutions to address future significant changes in the energy market in Ontario."
"Calian pulled together an impressive team to respond to the OEB's requirements", said Richard Schreier, Vice President Professional Services at Calian. "The OEB required a breadth and depth of skills and experience that was challenging to meet. We are extremely pleased that our team qualified across all service clusters under the Vendor of Record framework. Our own expertise in change management, information architecture and document management was complemented by the strength that Ericsson brings in networking and communications. With the addition of Howe & Company's experience in stakeholder communications and the Ontario energy sector, we have a team that can address key requirements of the changes anticipated in the OEB."
