Founder's Day originated from a proclamation by the United States Continental Congress on October 11, 1782 in response to England's expected military defeat in the American Revolutionary War.

Choctaw Indian Fair For centuries the Mississippi Choctaws have gathered at the ripening of the first corn. This gathering was called "The New Corn Ceremony" or "Green Corn Festival." The present day Choctaw Indian Fair has roots in this ancient celebration.  

This one-of-a-kind fair comes complete with celebrity entertainers, traditional Indian dancing, World Series Stickball, blowgun blowgun, hollow tube from which a dart or an arrow is blown by a person's breath. The arrow was usually tipped with a poison, such as curare, which would stun or kill the struck prey.
