Caledonia Mining Corporation conducts diamond exploration in James Bay lowlands.OAKVILLE, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 3, 1995--Caledonia Mining Corporation (TSE-CAL, NASDAQ-CALVF) is pleased to announce that it has completed a close spaced airborne geophysical survey Geophysical survey refers to the systematic collection of geophysical data for spatial studies. Geophysical surveys may use a great variety of sensing instruments, and data may be collected from above or below the Earth's surface or from aerial or marine platforms. over a total area of 717,840 acres in the James Bay James Bay, shallow southern arm of Hudson Bay, c.300 mi (480 km) long and 140 mi (230 km) wide, E central Canada, in Nunavut Territory between Ont. and Que. Numerous rivers flow into the bay; many of these have been developed for hydroelectric power in Quebec (see lowlands of Ontario and Quebec. This area includes 89 geophysical ge·o·phys·ics n. During 1994, Caledonia identified certain areas of the James Bay lowlands of Ontario and Quebec as being highly prospective for kimberlite kimberlite: see diamond. kimberlite or blue ground Dark, heavy, often fragmented igneous rock that may contain diamonds in the rock matrix. diamond exploration and conducted a detailed interpretation of the government geophysics geophysics, study of the structure, composition, and dynamic changes of the earth, its atmosphere, hydrosphere and magnetosphere, based on the principles of physics. to identify geophysical targets with signatures characteristics of kimberlite pipes. The survey highlighted 15 targets in Ontario and 29 targets in Quebec. These 44 targets were staked in November 1994. The purpose of the airborne geophysical survey recently completed by the Corporation was to further refine the 44 targets and to define new targets in the area. In Ontario, the airborne geophysical survey completed 5,751 line kilometres covering a total area of 261,931 acres. The survey was flown at 200 metre metre In poetry, the rhythmic pattern of a poetic line. Various principles have been devised to organize poetic lines into rhythmic units. Quantitative verse, the metre of Classical Greek and Latin poetry, measures the length of time required to pronounce syllables, spacing and included the targets previously staked by Caledonia. This survey identified 10 additional targets, bringing the total targets in the area up to 25. The 10 additional targets were staked in April 1995. The 25 targets in the area comprise 217 claims and cover an area of 8,617 acres. In Quebec, the airborne geophysical survey completed 10,009 line kilometres covering a total area of 455,909 acres. The survey was flown at 200 metre spacing and included the targets previously staked by Caledonia. This survey identified 35 additional targets, bringing the total targets in the area up to 64. The 64 targets comprise 435 claims and cover an area of 17,279 acres. Geochemical surveys of the target areas will be conducted during the summer followed by drilling of targets identified as prospective. KWG KWG Kreditwesengesetz (German: banking act) KWG Kids With Guns (band) KWG Kaiser Wilhelm Gymnasium KWG Kernkraftwerk Graben Resources Inc. and Spider Resources Inc. have recently announced that the first three kimberlites which they have tested in the James Bay area are diamondiferous.
