Caleb Technology Unleashes ``Monster''; Company's Advanced Portable Media Device Hits Market.

The world's most advanced portable media (APM) device, the Monster(TM) Floppy, was today released by Caleb Technology, creators of the new standard in floppy drive and media technology.

Monster Floppy is a high-capacity drive capable of storing, reading and retrieving 144 megabytes of data -- 100 times more than a standard 3.5-inch floppy diskette. The high-performance APM product is backward compatible with the existing base of more than 1 billion floppy drives worldwide.

"With the Internet becoming more entrenched in people's daily business and personal lives, and large multimedia files, such as MP3s, rising in popularity, portability becomes more and more of an issue, which translates to an ever-increasing need for greater capacity in removable storage solutions," said Fernando Corona, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing for Caleb.

The Monster Floppy incorporates proven hard drive technology with the mechanics of a floppy. By embodying the same basic technology and housing of a standard floppy disk drive and media, the Monster Floppy is able to capture the floppy's low-cost, portability and compatibility benefits.

However, the operating parameters of the drive and media are superior to the old technology in transfer rates, tracks per inch, bits per inch, data density and spindle RPM, thereby creating a new APM standard.

Caleb's Monster internal drives have a suggested retail price of $79.99, while Monster Media, in packs of 5 disks, retail for $34.99. The products are all covered by industry-leading warranties -- five years for the drive and a lifetime warranty on all media.

With its backward compatibility, there is no need to discard the disks and files that are stored within. Data files, utilities and application software can easily be transferred from the older disks to the new APM system. This makes it a true replacement for existing floppy drives.
