Caldor celebrates grand opening at Atlantic Center, Brooklyn, NY.


NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 1996--Caldor, the Northeast's leading discount retailer, will open the doors Thursday Nov. 7 to its newest store, located at 625 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

The Atlantic Center store brings the total number of Caldor stores to forty-eight in New York.

The 134,893 square foot Atlantic Center store is a single level new construction. The 91,599 square foot sales floor offers a wide variety of merchandise including domestics, apparel, housewares and hardware -- all at discount prices. The store employs approximately 350 full and part-time associates.

Three days of exciting in-store festivities are planned for the opening celebration including product samplings, demonstrations, vacation sweepstakes and celebrity appearances. Highlights of the opening events include:

Thursday, Nov. 7th

9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Autographs

with Earl Monroe of the NY Knicks and

Ottis Anderson of the NY Giants

1:00, 2:00 & 3:00 p.m. Madeline & the Toy Factory sing along

and holiday craft activity.

Friday, Nov. 8th

10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Old Fashioned Holiday with Piney, the

Walking Christmas Tree, the Nutcracker

& Santa's Elves. Children get their face

painted and receive small gifts!

Saturday, Nov. 9th

1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Radio Remote with KISS FM (98.7)

1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Timothy Stickney, "RJ Gannon," from One

Life To Live, Autograph Session

Store manager Mike Ciechalski, along with his staff will oversee the grand opening celebrations. Operations manager Bill Allen, assistant manager Hardlines, Camillo Chicon, assistant manager Softlines, Dana Northern, and personnel manager Laverne Johnson complete the Caldor Atlantic Center management team.

The Atlantic Center Caldor store is open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., and on Sunday, 8:00 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
