) today announced that it has now received formal notification by the European Patent Office of the granting of patent No 1150919 regarding 'Lime Treatment' for the EC and a number of affiliated countries such as Switzerland. The Company is now in the process of validating the patent in the respective countries.

Marc Janssens, COO of CalciTech, said, "Having the patent granted is an important milestone in the commercialisation of our technology. It is our patent strategy to secure our rights in those countries with significant raw material resources in the form of lime waste as well as those countries with existing or potential PCC PCC prothrombin complex concentrate.  demand."

The Company's patented process involves the use of industrial waste in the form of carbide lime and CO2 as raw materials for the production of high-end specialised synthetic calcium carbonate (SCC SCC - strongly connected component ) products. The two products launched by the Company, Calci LS and Calci SG, have so far attracted much interest from the paper industry as well as other industries.

CalciTech has further patent applications pending on a worldwide basis.
