CalPERS board election completed.


SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 13, 1994--Elections have been completed for the three available Board of Administration positions for the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).

Board President Dr. William D. Crist and Kurato Shimada were both reelected for a third term, and Michael Flaherman was elected to a first term as the Public Agency representative. The terms for all three board members run through January 1999.

Crist, who was first elected as president of the board in January 1992, has served on the board as the state member representative since January 1987. In addition to his elected duties, Crist also serves on numerous board committees including vice chair of the Investment Committee. Crist is a professor of economics at California State University, Stanislaus California State University, Stanislaus, a campus in the California State University system, was established in 1957 in Turlock, California. CSU Stanislaus has nursing and education programs. .

Shimada first assumed his seat on the board as the elected school member representative in January 1987. He has served as chair of the board's Health Benefits Committee since February 1992. Shimada is a landscape/grounds supervisor for the Oak Grove School District The Oak Grove School District operates 18 elementary schools (K-6) and three intermediate schools (7-8 unless otherwise noted) in San Jose, California, USA.
