Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) announced today that they have renamed Wilshire Associates as the primary general pension consultant to the $153 billion fund. The Santa Monica-based firm performs independent analysis and recommendations on asset allocation Asset Allocation The process of dividing a portfolio among major asset categories such as bonds, stocks or cash. The purpose of asset allocation is to reduce risk by diversifying the portfolio. , investment policies, money manager selection, and general investment industry trends. Additionally, Wilshire performs measurement and analysis of CalPERS investments and assists in monitoring money managers who manage public market securities for the System. CalPERS also renamed Pension Consulting Alliance and named two new consultants to a special projects consultant pool for the System. The two new firms are: RV Kuhns & Associates, Inc. of Portland, Oregon Oregon, city, United States Oregon, city (1990 pop. 18,334), Lucas co., NW Ohio, a suburb adjacent to Toledo, on Lake Erie; inc. 1958. It is a port with railroad-owned and -operated docks. The city has industries producing oil, chemicals, and metal products. , and San Francisco-based Strategic Investment Solutions. These investment consultants will be tapped for expert advice in specialized spe·cial·ize v. spe·cial·ized, spe·cial·iz·ing, spe·cial·iz·es v.intr. 1. To pursue a special activity, occupation, or field of study. 2. or technical investment areas and will be used to provide research, analysis and recommendations on key investment issues facing the System.
