Robert F. Carlson has been an elected member of the Board since 1971 and served as Board President from 1976 to 1985. Carlson was elected by and from retired members. He is the Chair of the Finance Committee and Vice Chair of the Performance and Compensation Committee and the R Street Project Subcommittee (subcommittee of the Investment Committee). In addition, he serves on the Benefits and Program Administration Committee, the Policy Subcommittee of the Investment Committee, and the Investment Committee.

His current term expires January 15, 2004.
