CalPERS Names Richard Aldama Diversity Outreach Program Manager.


SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) announced today the appointment of Richard Aldama as the pension fund

A fund established by an employer to facilitate and organize the investment of employees' retirement funds contributed by the employer and employees. The pension fund is a common asset pool meant to generate stable growth over the long term, and provide pensions for employees when they reach the end of their working years and commence retirement.

Aldama will oversee not only CalPERS internal diversity activities, but external activities as well. Included in his responsibilities will be coordinating diversity outreach, sponsoring and organizing contracting, and managing external investment outreach workshops. Additionally, he will implement diversity fairs within California that will serve as a business and investment connection for those wishing to learn how to compete for business and investment opportunities with CalPERS.

Aldama will report to Gloria Moore Andrews, CalPERS Deputy Executive Officer, Operations.

Aldama has 34 years of service with the State of California, coming to CalPERS in 1994. Most recently, he was the Assistant Division Chief of CalPERS Operations Support Services Division, where he was responsible for the Contracts Management, Procurement, and Outreach programs. Prior to coming to CalPERS, Aldama served as Chief, in both the Procurement and Business Services Unit and the Personnel Management and Affirmative Action Unit at the Department of Toxic Substances Control.

Aldama earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Science from California State University, Sacramento.
