The acquisition of all of the stock of Sun World represented the final step required of Cadiz before it assumed management of Sun World operations. Following the U.S. Bankruptcy Court's July 12 approval of the acquisition plan, Cadiz successfully satisfied all plan requirements, including the completion of documentation and execution of approximately $175 million in funding, to finalize Friday's ownership transfer. Sun World, one of California's leading agricultural concerns, with approximately $150 million in annual revenues, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October 1994 after debt- restructuring negotiations with its existing creditors had failed.
