Cadets' honour.


MORE than 300 sea cadets paraded for Liverpool's Lord Mayor before he handed them the Freedom of the City.

The uniformed youngsters braved the pouring rain as Mike Storey inspected them before the formal reception.

It is the first time a cadet company has been granted the freedom to a British city.

Beverley Beverley, town (1991 pop. 16,433), East Riding of Yorkshire, NE England. Beverley is primarily a market town with some shipbuilding and such light industries as the manufacture of railroad and automobile accessories and leather.  Marriett, 16, Lord Lieutenant's Cadet and North West Navy Board Cadet, said: "We were all really excited and happy.

"We have all worked really hard doing charity nights and during the city's Capital of Culture year."

Cllr Storey said: "The Sea Cadets are one of the largest young people's groups on Merseyside Merseyside, metropolitan county, NW England. Created in the 1974 local government reorganization, the county embraced the Greater Liverpool metropolitan area and comprised five metropolitan districts: Wirral, Sefton, Liverpool, Knowsley, and St. Helens.  and have made a tremendous contribution to the city over the years. It is right and proper that they are recognised."
