The move--a response to customer demand--will offer customers the increased capacity and high performance needed to implement complex, system-on-chip (SoC) designs and is part of the company's strategy to provide a wide range of options and operating systems Operating systems can be categorized by technology, ownership, licensing, working state, usage, and by many other characteristics. In practice, many of these groupings may overlap.  to meet customers' design needs.

"The Cadence Encounter-AMD Opteron processor combination gives a technical advantage to the demanding EDA (1) (Electronic Design Automation) Using the computer to design, lay out, verify and simulate the performance of electronic circuits on a chip or printed circuit board.  engineering community who are designing extremely complex silicon products," said Ben Williams, director, server/workstation business segment, AMD's Microprocessor Business Unit. "Cadence solutions ported to AMD Opteron processor-based systems help address the increasing design computing capacity and performance needs of our joint customers."

By providing customers with a completely interoperable design solution through hardware, operating system and design software, Cadence customers receive significant acceleration of chip design time, leading to improved time to market. Cadence customers can choose from a wider array of options with the foremost design solutions available to achieve the best price and performance for their individual design needs.

"Porting to the AMD Opteron processor-based systems is a natural fit for Cadence. We already have customers taping out designs with 50 to 100 million gates. Porting to AMD64 technology offers tremendous advantages to our customers who want a quicker design time, more capacity, and increased performance for their high-end chips The AMD team is helping our engineers achieve this port, and we are excited with these results and with our continued relationship with AMD," said Lavi Lev lev-,
