SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 7, 2000

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CDN), the world's leading provider of electronic design products and services, announced today that Matthew Chan has been appointed president for the Asia Pacific region and corporate vice president, reporting directly to Cadence President and CEO Ray Bingham.

In this role, Chan is responsible for the company's sales and operations activities throughout the Asia Pacific region. Located in Singapore, Chan replaces Jean-Claude Broido, who will be returning to Europe later this month to take on the role of vice president of sales for Europe.

Chan holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Chung Yuan University in Chung-Li, Taiwan, a master's degree in computer-aided manufacturing from Brigham Young University, and is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of South Australia with a focus on cultural implications in the Asian sales process.
