It is particularly common amongst North American based companies, who often divide their international operations into the  at IBM Technology Group, which develops, manufactures and markets microelectronics and hard disk technologies.

Europe is already Cadence's strongest market outside North America, accounting for some 22 percent of the company's worldwide revenues in 2001. d'Eyssautier will report to Kevin Bushby, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations, who was formerly Vice President and General Manager for Europe.

d'Eyssautier will focus on building deeper relationships with customers in Europe while broadening the appeal of the company's nanometer-design products and services to electronics businesses of all sizes. One of the European semiconductor field's most experienced senior executives, he has held both senior executive and technical positions during his 20-plus-year career in key roles at leading companies prior to his tenure at IBM, including Rockwell Semiconductor Systems, GEC Plessey, Matra Harris Semi-Conductors and Philips Semiconductors.
