Revenue of $177.0 million for the second quarter of 1996 increased 38%, while operating profit of $43.4 million increased 80% compared to the prior year second quarter. Net income and earnings per share for the second quarter of 1996 were $28.6 million and $ .31 respectively, an increase of 68% and 72% over the comparable prior year quarter.

For the first half, revenue totaled $340.5 million, an increase of 39% over the comparable prior year period. First half net income of $54.2 million increased 77% over the same prior year period, while earnings per share increased 79% to $.59.

Cadence's "total solutions" approach to assisting customers with their electronic product development needs fueled growth in both software product sales and in the Company's professional service offerings.
