The project began in the middle of February and, though the owners want to be on line in September, Cache Valley Electric's contract should be completed in July. The GE Norway generators will produce 13,800 volts of electricity, and step-up transformers Noun 1. step-up transformer - a transformer that increases voltage cascade transformer - a number of transformers in series; provides a high-voltage source will increase this to 138,000 volts. Cache Valley Electric crews have already placed more than 12,500 feet of 13.8 kv high voltage The term high voltage characterizes electrical circuits, in which the voltage used is the cause of particular safety concerns and insulation requirements. High voltage is used in electrical power distribution, in cathode ray tubes, to generate X-rays and particle beams, to cable and about 175,000 feet of wire and small control cable. |
