Comparable store sales (sales for stores open at least one year or more) decreased 2% during the five week December 2001 period, as compared to the same period in 2000. Total sales for the five week period ended December 29, 2001 were $24.8 million, as compared to $24.6 million for the five week Fiscal period in Fiscal 2000.

 week period ended December 29, 2001 were $180.0 million, as compared to $176.5 million for the comparable period ended December 30, 2000 which represents an increase of $3.5 million or 2%. Comparable store sales were flat during the fifty-two week period, as compared to the same period in Fiscal 2000.

Mr. Brian Woolf, Cache's chairman commented, "On a positive note, we anticipate earnings for fourth quarter and full year will be substantially greater than prior year results. These results were driven primarily by higher gross margins, greater regular price sell thrus, and our ability to sell merchandise at higher average price points. Sales have improved during the first 10 days of January 2002 and on a comparative store basis are ahead of prior year sales."

The Company also announced that it expects to release fourth quarter and full year results on or around February 8.

Cache opened nine new Cache stores and one Lillie Rubin store during 2001. The Company plans to open two new Cache stores in Spring 2002.
