Cache, Inc. Reports September 1998 Comparable Store Sales Decreased 7% and Announces Opening of 12 Lillie Rubin Stores and 2 Cache Stores.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--October 8, 1998--Cache, Inc., (NASDAQ:CACH), a specialty chain of one hundred and eighty-four exclusive women's apparel stores, reported September 1998 sales figures.

Cache, Inc. reported total sales for the five week period ended September 26, 1998 decreased 4% to $12.2 million from $12.7 million for the same period in 1997. Same store sales (sales for stores open at least one year or more) decreased 7% during the five week 1998 period, as compared to the five week 1997 period. Total sales for the thirty-nine week period ended September 26, 1998 were $98.8 million, as compared to $94.7 million for the same period in 1997, which represents an increase of $4.1 million or 4%. Same store sales for the thirty-nine week period in 1998 increased approximately 2%,as compared to no increase for the same period of 1997.

The Company also announced that on September 11, 1998, twelve Lillie Rubin stores purchased in August 1998 opened. These stores are located in some of the finest malls in the nation, such as; Houston Galleria; Dallas Galleria; Boca Town Center; the Mall at Short Hills, NJ; Dadeland Mall, Miami, FL; The Fashion Show, Las Vegas, NV; Biltmore Fashion Park, Phoenix, AZ; Phipps Plaza, Atlanta, GA; Lakeside Shopping Center, Metaire, LA; Coral Gables, FL; Brookwood Village, Birmingham, AL; and Tyrone Square, St. Petersburg, FL. The new Cache store locations opened in September were Acadiana Mall, Lafayette, LA and Montgomery Mall, Bethesda, MD. As a result of these September openings, Cache now has a total of 184 (Cache and Lillie Rubin) stores in operation, as compared to 166 stores at September 27, 1997.
