Cabot, a worldwide producer of carbon black, and Deza DEZA Direktion für Entwicklung Und Zusammenarbeit (German: Directorate for Development and Cooperation) a.s., the Czech Republic's only producer of coal tar-based chemicals, observed the formal opening of their joint venture carbon black plant in Valasske Mezirici, near Ostrava Ostrava (ô`strävä), formerly Moravská Ostrava (mô`räfskä), Ger. Mährisch Ostrau, city (1991 pop. , Czech Republic Czech Republic, Czech Česká Republika (2005 est. pop. 10,241,000), republic, 29,677 sq mi (78,864 sq km), central Europe. It is bordered by Slovakia on the east, Austria on the south, Germany on the west, and Poland on the north. . The plant, CS Cabot, represents an investment of $42 million and has a manufacturing capacity of 50,000 tons of carbon black annually.
