Cablevision expands local News 12 Westchester to 24-hour format; Move is next step in completing News 12 Metro-New York ring: Unique services will deliver local news to markets serving three million cable homes.

Corporation, the nation's sixth largest operator of cable television systems and innovator in supplying targeted local news programming through its subsidiary, Rainbow Programming Holdings, Inc., today announced it has expanded its news 12 Westchester operations to 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

The News 12 Westchester expansion is the next step in Cablevision's plan to complete a News 12 Metro-New York ring, providing 24-hour local news and community affairs coverage to nearly three million cable television viewers -- including 1.4 million customers served directly by Cablevision -- in the Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut and Westchester County areas.

Janine Rose, News Director for News 12 Westchester, said the new 24-hour format will greatly increase the amount of Westchester-specific news delivered to the community. "There is a wealth of local news in Westchester that simply cannot be covered by the New York City New York City: see New York, city.
