NDS Group plc, a News Corporation company and the leading provider of conditional access systems and interactive applications for digital TV, today announced the commercial launch of its Open VideoGuard(TM) conditional access and StreamServer(TM) broadcast management solution on Cablevision Systems Corporation's (NYSE: CVC) digital platform.

Since Fall 2001, Cablevision homes in Long Island, NY, have had access to NDS's solutions by ordering Cablevision's new iO: Interactive Optimum digital cable service.

NDS's Open VideoGuard(TM) conditional access enables safe, secure transactions and content delivery over Cablevision's iO: Interactive Optimum digital cable network. Thanks to Open VideoGuard(TM), Cablevision iO customers can enjoy a significant number of new digital broadcast channels, music audio channels, video-on-demand (VOD), and interactive television services. Open VideoGuard(TM) conditional access provides Cablevision with advanced content security including support for multi-tiered subscription and pay-per-view broadcast services, as well as unique encryption on every VOD and subscription VOD session. In addition, NDS's StreamServer(TM) network synchronization and control solution has enabled Cablevision to deploy the first open DVB standard network in North America. StreamServer(TM) is a software system that creates an environment to integrate, synchronize and control components of an end-to-end live television network including schedulers, electronic program guides (EPGs), playout systems, multiplexers and broadcast operations.
