Cablevision Announces the Purchase of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's 20% Stake in Three of Rainbow's National Networks: AMC, IFC and WE: Women's Entertainment.

:CVC See CSC. ) today announced that it has agreed to buy Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's 20% stake in three of Rainbow's successful national cable networks - AMC (Advanced Mezzanine Card) See AdvancedTCA. , IFC (Internet Foundation Classes) A class library from Netscape that provides an application framework and graphical user interface (GUI) routines for Java programmers. IFC was later made part of the Java Foundation Classes (JFC). See JFC, AFC and AWT. See also ICF.  and WE: Women's Entertainment -- for $500 million. Cablevision sold the stake to MGM in April 2001.

Rainbow Media Holdings will pay MGM $250 million in cash upon closing of the transaction. The remaining $250 million will be in the form of a note issued by Cablevision Systems Corporation that matures in 5 months. At maturity, Cablevision has the option to pay the note in cash or Cablevision Class A common stock.
