Cabletron names general manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa.


ROCHESTER, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 1995--Cabletron Systems (NYSE NYSE

: CS) announced today that Joseph H. Solari was appointed general manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

He is responsible for directing sales and managing operations at Cabletron's 15 offices throughout the region. Solari, a former president and chief executive officer of Zenith Data Systems Zenith Data Systems (ZDS) was a division of Zenith founded in 1979 after Zenith acquired Heathkit, who had, at that time, recently entered the personal computer market. Zenith sold personal computers under both the Heath/Zenith and Zenith Data Systems names.  Europe S.A., has over 30 years of sales and management experience in the computer and electronics industries.

Under Solari's guidance as president and chief executive of Zenith Data Systems Europe S.A., European sales increased from $10 million to $600 million in seven years. In this position, he developed a strong sales organization anchored by 13 subsidiaries and efficient channels of distribution. He was also responsible for establishing Zenith's European assembly plant in Ireland.

Prior to Zenith, he worked for Schlumberger Ltd. He started in sales and eventually held the position of general manager, European Economic Community European Economic Community (EEC), organization established (1958) by a treaty signed in 1957 by Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and West Germany (now Germany); it was known informally as the Common Market.  countries for a division of Schlumberger called Heathkit Geraete GmbH.
