Cabletron introduces integrated ATM management capabilities for SPECTRUM; ForeView to be available on SPECTRUM 4.0 for industry's richest set of new technology management options.


ROCHESTER, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 28, 1996--In order to help customers integrate ATM into existing networks, Cabletron is announcing support for FORE SYSTEMS See Marconi. (r) ForeView(tm) for powerful ATM management from SPECTRUM, the industry's leading platform for network and systems management. Also announced today were four new software management modules from Cabletron to address ATM management for new products requiring ATM emulation in the workgroup, data center and backbone. This will enhance SPECTRUM's ability to manage all new Cabletron ATM products, as well as FORE ATM switches, FORE LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  access products and Fore ATM network adapters -- all from the same console.

ForeView's support enhances SPECTRUM's ATM management module with a variety of new screen choices customized to the Cabletron environment, which includes SPECTRUM's view of connection paths throughout the ATM network. Both ForeView and Cabletron's management module will support SPECTRUM 4.0 -- on Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. , as well as all leading Unix platforms.
