ROCHESTER, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 17, 1996--In a move to provide one-stop shopping for fully integrated network, application, and systems management, leading intranet solutions provider Cabletron Systems (NYSE:CS) will resell BMC Software, Inc.'s PATROL and Metrix's WinWatch.

Customers will now be able to receive a synergistic package of applications and systems mangement products and services that fully support the industry-leading features of SPECTRUM Enterprise Manager, the fastest growing management platform on the market today. PATROL brings important application and database management to networks, while WinWatch delivers critical desktop management for the Windows environment to SPECTRUM.

Customers using these solutions will reap the benefits of a management package integrated at SPECTRUM's Knowledge Base, the tightest level of integration available in the industry today. Knowledge Base intergration allows SPECTRUM Enterprise Maanger to automatically create models of network, application and system entities, and use its inductive modeling to understand the complexities of each model and the relationships between them. This allows SPECTRUM to more easily and accurately pinpoint problems and take action to solve them, and harnesses advanced capabilities such as automated fault resolution and integrated web-based reporting.

Knowledge Modules provide the agent with more product-specific information, allowing a single agent to manage all the components and objects associated with a server.
