.A.), through its Portuguese subsidiary, Cabovisao, the leader in fixed alternative direct broadband communications and multimedia services in Portugal, today announced that its service units increased 95,458 or 76,4% since the beginning of 2001 and totaled 220,333 at the end of the third quarter 2001.

Operational highlights

-- Total service units increased by 36,492 in the third quarter of 2001, compared to an increase of 33,867 in the second quarter of 2001 and 25,099 in the first quarter of 2001 and 116,422 since September 30, 2000.

-- With hardly any Internet or Telephony only customers, less than 400, the number of services per subscriber connection additions in the quarter reached 2.32 services per connection. Cumulatively, the number of services per subscriber connection reached 1.54 services per connection as compared to 1.29 at the end of last year.

-- Telephony customers increased 11,413 during the quarter to reach 25,310 at September 30, 2001.

In the third quarter of 2001, the management continued to implement the strategy of offering bundled services such as CATV, Pay TV, High speed Internet access See how to access the Internet.  and telephone services distributed through its proprietary HFC networks and fiber optic national backbone.

Cabovisao's management team in Portugal continues the growth of service units through the execution of the business plan. The graph below clearly demonstrates that our operations are maintaining an accelerated growth.
