Ellacoya Networks, Inc., an innovative company providing IP service control technology for broadband networks, today announced the addition of broadband cable industry veterans to its executive team and Board of Directors. Bob Schack, a founding member of Cisco Systems' Cable Business Unit, has joined Ellacoya as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Business Development. Dean Gilbert, Managing Partner at Sandalwood Investments and a recently-named Cable Pioneer, joins as a member of its Board of Directors. Schack and Gilbert bring a wide range of broadband and cable data experience and relationships to the company, as it continues to deploy its IP Service Control system in North American cable data networks and broadband networks worldwide.

Prior to joining Ellacoya, Bob Schack was Director of Business Development for Cisco Systems and a founding member of its Cable Business Unit. In his role at Cisco, he focused on the development of cable broadband open standards and defined the Universal Broadband Router (uBR), the industry's first DOCSIS-based CMTS. Prior to Cisco Systems, he was a founding member of Nortel's cable business where he led key customer engagements to develop and deliver the Cornerstone cable voice solution and was responsible for sales of all Nortel products to the CLEC market.

In this capacity, he is an investor and serves on the board or as an advisor to several start-up companies including: BigBand Networks, HCORP (Hospital Network), Midstream Technologies, Narad Networks, Ellacoya Networks, Sensitron, IVAST, and Security Broadband Corp. He was executive vice president and general manager of @Home Network from 1996 to 1999, where he was responsible for creating services and building relationships with cable operators. He managed field operations, deployment, business development, partner relations, and various marketing activities, successfully securing annual revenues of over $275 million. Prior to @Home, Dean had a successful career managing a number of cable franchises and has more than 20 years executive management experience in telecommunications, broadband services, and cable television.
