Andre Foster, vice president of Information Technology at Cable Bahamas, "From the moment the UnityOne was plugged into our network, and with minimal configuration, it began proactively blocking threats against our cable modem cable modem

access segments. This is a level of protection I never imagined we could provide to all of our broadband cable subscribers, and we are continuing to evolve our network to strategically place the UnityOne closer to the core where it can provide the greatest amount of protection for not only our broadband cable modem infrastructure, but also our 300 site Metro Ethernet A metropolitan area network (MAN) that uses a 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) backbone rather than SONET/SDH links. Ethernet offers a more economical alternative. In a Metro Ethernet network, multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) may be deployed to provide quality of service (QoS).  deployment. Because of UnityOne and its corresponding Security Management System, our NOC (Network Operations Center) A central or regional location for monitoring a large network. Also called a "network management center" (NMC), "service management center" (SMC) or "network control center" (NCC), a NOC may be used to manage a large enterprise network,  has moved from being complaint-reactive to being analysis-proactive in enforcing our security policy. We see TippingPoint's security solution as a critical component in making that transition."

UnityOne has been placed in the network protecting Cable Bahamas' cable modem access networks, which currently supports over 20,000 high-speed Internet See broadband.  subscribers. On average, TippingPoint's UnityOne has blocked over one million malicious threats per month on each of the protected network segments. The average segment contains over 2,000 broadband Internet See broadband.  subscribers. In addition to providing a secure Internet connection to their customers, Cable Bahamas is able to protect network performance by blocking malicious traffic so that customers have an optimized Internet connection. If a customer carries a worm into the network from a laptop that was used on an unsecured connection, UnityOne has the ability to quarantine "walk-in worms" of this type so that other users are not infected.

Foster added, "We purchased UnityOne because we wanted a solution that provided a high level of proactive security features without requiring a dedicated security team to manage, maintain and configure the technology. The UnityOne delivers this in a powerful and easy-to-use security solution."

Jim Johnson, vice president and general manager of TippingPoint's Service Provider business unit, said, "Cable Bahamas has taken a leadership role in protecting their subscribers and providing fast, secure Internet connectivity. The UnityOne's switch-like performance and security accuracy is uniquely suited to meet the demands of Cable MSOs."
