Cable Bahamas Deploys TippingPoint's UnityOne Intrusion Prevention System to Deliver Secure Internet Connectivity to Cable Modem Subscribers.

TippingPoint Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:TPTI), the leader in intrusion prevention, today announced that Cable Bahamas, the leading provider of cable and Internet service on the islands, has purchased UnityOne(tm) Intrusion Prevention Systems to provide their subscribers enhanced protection from cyber threats malicious traffic such as worms, viruses, Trojans and Denial of Service attacks.

According to Andre Foster, vice president of Information Technology at Cable Bahamas, "From the moment the UnityOne was plugged into our network, and with minimal configuration, it began proactively blocking threats against our cable modem access segments. UnityOne has been placed in the network protecting Cable Bahamas' cable modem access networks, which currently supports over 20,000 high-speed Internet subscribers. On average, TippingPoint's UnityOne has blocked over one million malicious threats per month on each of the protected network segments. The average segment contains over 2,000 broadband Internet subscribers. In addition to providing a secure Internet connection to their customers, Cable Bahamas is able to protect network performance by blocking malicious traffic so that customers have an optimized Internet connection. If a customer carries a worm into the network from a laptop that was used on an unsecured connection, UnityOne has the ability to quarantine "walk-in worms" of this type so that other users are not infected.
