Cable & Wireless to Participate in NAP - Network Access Point - of the Americas; Internet Hub Moves Quickly Ahead.

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 15, 2000

Global telecommunications company Cable and Wireless has signed an agreement to participate in the NAP (Network Access Point) of the Americas, a major Internet hub being built in downtown Miami.

A network access point is a high-speed Internet data exchange and connection point that ties Internet access providers together and enables interaction between geographic regions and among customers of various providers. The NAP of the Americas will route Internet traffic from the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe. The NAP will bring significant value to the state's economy, generating high-paying jobs and attracting many new companies and new technology infrastructure to Florida.

"Cable & Wireless is an international leader in the telecommunications field," said Benjamin Finzi, Executive Vice President of EPIK EPIK Eesti Puuetega Inimeste Koda (The Estonian Chamber of Disabled People)  Communications and spokesman for the NAP of the Americas. "It is the participation of global telecoms that will ensure our NAP quickly becomes the gateway of Internet traffic into the U.S. from all of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as other parts of the world.

The NAP of the Americas facility will be built by T-Rex, a wholly owned subsidiary Wholly Owned Subsidiary

SAIC/Telcordia was chosen as the Operator for NAP of the Americas. SAIC/Telcordia will design the technical specifications for the NAP and collaborate with the developer of the NAP building to ensuring proper and successful implementation.
