Traffic Server is planned for deployment within the Cable & Wireless USA Internet network to enhance its new Internet Shock Absorber (ISA) content distribution and management services.

Traffic Server/ISA will enable customers to access and surf the Web more quickly and efficiently. Traffic Server provides an infrastructure software platform for Cable & Wireless USA to deliver advanced new Web content distribution services to customers.

By enabling the network to actively optimize the flow and storage of data, the Traffic Server platform forms a basis for new ISA services such as geographical content distribution, surge protection, and failover protection. By pushing content closer to users at the edges of the network, these services are designed to improve the Internet experience and enable new services for end users.

Because ISA enables more efficient management of Internet access requirements and Web server performance, Cable & Wireless USA customers can eliminate the additional access bandwidth and server hardware upgrades needed to accommodate high volume/high demand Web events such as new product launches, seasonal e-commerce, and the distribution of multimedia content.
