Each hosting center is connected directly to Cable & Wireless' tier one global IP network. In December 2000 the company announced the completion of phase two of its global IP network build program. Currently, 49 nodes are operational around the world with 23 nodes in the US; 24 nodes in 12 countries across Europe; and two nodes in Asia Pacific. When completed, the network will operate at OC-192 (9.6 Gbps) capacity and incorporate 84 international nodes within the same autonomous system A network that is administered by a single set of management rules that are controlled by one person, group or organization. Autonomous systems often use only one routing protocol, although multiple protocols can be used.
