Cabbage patch king in town.


XAVIER Roberts Xavier Roberts (born 1955, Cleveland, Georgia), the inventor and maker of Cabbage Patch Kids is an American artist and businessman. After learning the German art of soft sculpture, he created a type of doll he called "Little People".  - also known as the cabbage patch king - visited Tyneside in 1983 as part of a tour to promote his Cabbage Patch Kids Cabbage Patch Kids are a brand of doll created by Xavier Roberts in 1978. The original dolls were all cloth and were available at local craft shows, and later at Babyland General Hospital in Cleveland, Georgia.  dolls.

The cute creations had made Xavier a millionaire and started a craze which swept around the world.

 in toy shops with parents and children fighting each other for the coveted kids.

Xavier had planned to meet young customers in Fenwick's on Northumberland Street, Newcastle, but managers cancelled his visit for safety reasons, fearing a repeat of chaotic scenes elsewhere in the country.

Xavier said: "I'm a little but disappointed, but I suppose you can't blame them. Yesterday I was in Manchester and the store was chaotic."
