CYGNUS BUSINESS MEDIA FORMS NEW SUBSIDIARY.


Cygnus Business Media Cygnus Business Media is an American magazine publisher, internet information developer, exposition management provider and custom marketing services company. It was founded in 1966 with the initial acquisition of Photo Trade News, a magazine founded in 1937 which continues to , now a unit of CommerceConnect Media Co. (Westport, CT), has formed a wholly-owned subsidiary for its industry-leading Web site, Firehouse.com. Cygus said the establishment, of Firehouse.com, Inc. (College Park, MD) will "allow the company to invest significantly in the site, while maintaining a focus on other core Cygnus properties."

Cygnus said the site has nearly 20,000 visit sessions daily and "hundreds of thousands" of unique visitors A count of how many different people access a Web site. Interactive publisher Dave Iannone said that "increased investment in Firehouse.com will help to significantly expand the online offerings. We will be enhancing and adding to our content-specific sections, training features and services." The company said a recent poll taken last month at the "Firehouse Expo" showed that 91% of all respondants use the Internet to research products for their station and that Firehouse.com is, "far and away," the leading site.
