CYGNUS ACQUIRES "GSE TODAY" MAGAZINE AND RELATED EXPO & WEB SITE.

Cygnus Business Media (Westport, CT) has acquired GSE Today magazine, GSE Expo and the GSEToday.com Web site from General Publications (Las Cruces, NM). No terms of the deal were given.

Launched in 1993, GSE Today is an international magazine and information service for the aviation ground support industry, including equipment servicing. It has a controlled circulation of 15,000 professionals in 200 countries with a pass-along readership of 71,000. The title is targeted to professionals at passenger and cargo airlines, corporate flight departments and fixed-base operators (FBOs), ground handling firms, ground support equipment repair operations, overhaul facilities, airports, military bases, supply companies, as well as consultants, flight instructors and government agencies. GSE Expo in a trade show for the aviation ground support equipment and service industries. It is held annually in Las Vegas (NV).

Operations for the acquired title will be moved to Cygnus' Wisconsin office where the company produces such related titles as Airport Business, Aircraft Maintenance Technology and Mass Transit magazines.

Cygnus president/ceo Paul Mackler said the "addition of these properties to our portfolio provides for a more comprehensive range of possibilities for advertisers and exhibitors wishing to reach the aviation marketplace." Cygnus has now completed four acquisitions in the past year, including Design/Build Business magazine from McKellar Publishing (Glendale, CA), the remaining 51% of partnership Spencer/Cygnus Regional Print Network (Southern Graphics, Print & Graphics, Printing Views and Printing Journal) from Spencer Communications (Timonium, MD), and Locksmith Leger International and Security Technology & Design from Locksmith Publications (Westport, CT).
