CYGCOM supporting the Microsoft Speech Server platform.

CYGCOM has announced the general availability of the SpeechWatch Monitoring and Alarming Console for the Microsoft Speech Server The Microsoft Speech Server is a product from Microsoft designed to allow the authoring and deployment of IVR applications incorporating Speech Recognition, Speech Synthesis and DTMF.  environment. The SpeechWatch Console addresses the needs of enterprise IT Managers in monitoring and alarming the telephony elements of the Microsoft Speech Server Environment and maximizing system uptime. The SpeechWatch Console also offers ISVs a value-add tool in automating the support functions of the server environment by quickly identifying and accurately diagnosing issues thereby allowing ISVs to define and implement repeatable support processes.

The SpeechWatch Console, powered by UXComm, monitors utility computing and Intel telephony resources within the Speech Server computing network using industry standards--Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) A widely used network monitoring and control protocol. Data are passed from SNMP agents, which are hardware and/or software processes reporting activity in each network device (hub, router, bridge, etc. ), the Intelligent Platform Management Interface The Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) specification defines a set of common interfaces to computer hardware and firmware which system administrators can use to monitor system health and manage the system. Several dozen companies support IPMI.  (IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) A protocol for monitoring server hardware for temperature, voltage, chassis intrusion, etc. Introduced in 1998 by Intel, HP, NEC and Dell, IPMI defines a standard set of messages for the characteristics of hardware ) and the Windows Management Instrumentation Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is a set of extensions to the Windows Driver Model that provides an operating system interface through which instrumented components provide information and notification.  (WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) A programming interface (API) in Windows that allows system and network devices to be configured and managed. WMI is based on WBEM, which stores all definitions in a CIM database. )--including the condition and performance of web servers, CTI (Computer Telephone Integration) Combining data with voice systems in order to enhance telephone services. For example, automatic number identification (ANI) allows a caller's records to be retrieved from the database while the call is routed to the appropriate party.  servers, SQL servers and other Microsoft Speech Server dependent systems. By delivering unified granular control capabilities through standard management interfaces, SpeechWatch eases the integration of mainstream speech solutions into the enterprise data center and SMB IT infrastructures.

"The SpeechWatch Console brings significant value add to the Microsoft Speech Server channel partners and customers by lowering the post installation cost for supporting an aggregated platform like the Speech Server through the immediate identification of system status regardless of the original equipment manufacturer. We have taken technical parameters and turned them into colors and provided the IT manager with a system-wide web console to visually drill down on system status," comments Jeff Valliant, CYGCOM's President & CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . "Our goal is to make Speech Server support easy and inexpensive while increasing system up time and performance. SpeechWatch is not an application; it's our first step in a series of support offerings aimed at automating support and maintenance for the Microsoft Speech Server."

"By providing an integrated Microsoft Speech Server based system and other value added offerings like SpeechWatch and eSupport, CYGCOM has added to the Microsoft value proposition of significantly reducing the cost and complexity of developing and deploying speech applications," comments Piyush Dogra, Director, Business Development and Strategic Alliances, Microsoft. "We welcome CYGCOM as a new Microsoft Platinum OEM."

"We are excited to be the first Microsoft Speech Server Platinum OEM partner in North America," comments Jeff Valliant, CYGCOM's President and CEO. "We are looking forward to working closely with Microsoft in making speech a mainstream, pervasive technology by building scalable speech platforms and providing support with a managed cost orientation in mind."
