CYCLISTS OFFER MTA IDEAS FOR MORE BIKE-FRIENDLY L.A.

The Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Bicycle Coalition submitted a list of recommendations Wednesday to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, urging the agency to increase funding to get more bikes on the streets.

About a dozen riders from the coalition, the Sierra Club Sierra Club, national organization in the United States dedicated to the preservation and expansion of the world's parks, wildlife, and wilderness areas. Founded (1892) in California by a group led by the Scottish-American conservationist John Muir, the Sierra Club  and the conservation group North East Trees rode to MTA (1) (Message Transfer Agent or Mail Transfer Agent) The store and forward part of a messaging system. The document recommended spending $25 million a year for bicycle programs, increased promotion, education, better links to transit alternatives and better planning throughout the county. The MTA is currently creating its long-term transportation strategies.

The suggestions and information in the 23-page report were culled from approximately 200 surveys received online and at four town hall meetings in Eagle Rock, Koreatown, Santa Monica Santa Monica (săn`tə mŏn`ĭkə), city (1990 pop. 86,905), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1886.
