CYBEX REPORTS RECORD FIRST QUARTER.

.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 16, 1997--CYBEX Computer Products Corporation (Nasdaq/NM:CBXC) today reported record sales and net income for the first fiscal quarter ended June June: see month.  30, 1997.

Net sales for the first quarter of fiscal 1998 rose to $10.7 million compared with $7.4 million in the first quarter a year ago. Sales of KVM switch products increased 53% to $9.1 million, or 85% of revenues in the first quarter of fiscal 1998. International sales rose 43% to $2.4 million, or 23% of revenues.  extension product sales were up 12% to $1.4 million compared with the first quarter of the prior fiscal year.

"Sales of our new AutoView products were especially strong in the first quarter, rising 75% sequentially from the fourth quarter and accounting for approximately 19% of total revenues," continued Mr. Thornton. "We believe the market's acceptance of the AutoView product line demonstrates our leadership in technology and value engineering. The AutoView technology combines our new manufacturing and engineering building blocks designed to provide increased functionality at a lower price. In addition, the AutoView line continues to meet our expectations of providing strong margin retention while enabling Cybex to compete in major channel product distribution and in the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. Net income for the first quarter of fiscal 1998 rose to $1.7 million, or $0.31 per share, on 5.5 million average shares outstanding. This compares with net income of $1.2 million, or $0.22 per share, on 5.6 million average shares outstanding for the first quarter of fiscal 1997.

"We continue to increase our investment in research and development," stated Mr. Thornton. "R&D expenses were up 48% from the first quarter of last year to 7.3% of revenues. The increase reflects our aggressive commitment to developing new products as well as sustaining our engineering efforts. We expect the level of R&D expenses to increase in the future as we expand our product base.

"This was our second full quarter of operations at our new European plant, and we are pleased to report that 100% of the products sold in the E.U. during the quarter were shipped from our Irish plant.
