CYBEX ANNOUNCES MAJOR PRODUCT ADDITIONS FOR ITS AUTOBOOT COMMANDER 4xP AND 1xP SWITCHES; SNAP Product Line Introduced.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 1995--CYBEX Computer Products Corporation (Nasdaq/NM:CBXC) announced today four major product additions for its AutoBoot(TM) Commander 4xP(TM) and 1xP keyboard, video monitor and mouse (KVM) switches. The Company also introduced its SNAP product line, the industry's first KVM product to utilize standard Category 5 UTP cabling, commonly specified for Ethernet 10BASE-T networks.

The new products include:

- PC EXTENDER SNAP(TM) is the first extender in the industry

to utilize standard Category 5 UTP cabling. The extender

allows the computer's CPU to be placed up to 300 feet from

the keyboard, video monitor and mouse. The extender can be

used to increase the physical security of the CPU by moving

it to a controlled environment, provide space savings,

alleviate local heat buildup from the CPU, enhance

maintainability, and improve aesthetics. Typical

applications include training rooms, brokerage trading

floors, and PCs used in harsh environments.

- Intelligent Switch technology will be incorporated into all

new AutoBoot(TM) Commander 4xP(TM) and 1xP(TM) KVM

switches. Intelligent Switch technology allows direct

access of up to 3,048 CPUs with one keyboard sequence and

without video degradation. The new technology is designed

for large networks, making it easier to incorporate and

operate KVM switching with its resultant benefits.

- KeyView remote access will be incorporated into Cybex's 4xP

or 1xP KVM switches and will provide remote troubleshooting

and maintenance for up to 256 Pcs. KeyView enables remote

access to view the screen of a locked PC and then warm boot 

the system to bring it back on-line. It also enables the

uploading and downloading of files and software patches and

comes complete with a number of security measures to

prevent unauthorized access. Unlike some software

solutions, KeyView hardware does not generate interrupts

which could lock up a PC.

- A Dual User Card Set was introduced for the 4xP and 1xP

that provides two user channels on one card, thereby

doubling user capacity per expansion port. The Dual User

Card Set is compatible with IBM-compatible, Mac or Sun

monitors, keyboards and mice, and allows access to any of

those platforms and includes the switching of microphone

and left/right channel audio. Design limits are 3,048 CPUs

with two simultaneous users and 2,160 CPUs with four users.

- A new 14-slot AutoBoot Commander chassis that features all

of the cabling interfaces on the rear of the switch was

introduced. The new design increases the number of ports

by two and improves the functionality of the switch for

rack mounting by moving the cabling to the rear of the
