A Florida nudist colony that planned what it called the first-ever Webcast of a nude tennis tournament last week had to postpone coverage when the high volume of traffic to their site at www.tennisinthebuff.com and www.tennisnaked.com exposed their need for better software.

The $2,000 event last Tuesday that was to be shown on the Nude Sports Network's link at www.nudistwebcastingnetwork.com is tentatively rescheduled to air Wednesday, complete with shots of the 100-plus naked spectators. They also have a June 11 nude tennis and volleyball event pending for a Webcast.

A warning is issued before one can get to the event that clearly states: ``This site does NOT contain pornography (and) clicking on here you agree that you are AT LEAST 18 years of age and not offended by nudity. Otherwise, please return to our home page and other sites that are more amendable to your taste.''

The cost to watch the two-hour event from Lake Como on your computer is $13.95, but one of the event's organizers clearly says not to expect Playboy model-types competing in the events.

``We want to show nudism in its true state,'' Elf Anderson, the marketing director for the Nudist Webcasting Network, told the Hollywood Reporter.

Asked whether the new Tennis Channel might be interested in televising such an event, founder Steve Bellamy replied: ``One (channel) will, maybe not us.''

--If a nude sporting event needs a Southern California venue, it might check out the new site launched this week by the Los Angeles Sports Council (www.lasports.org).

The private, nonprofit group in charge of helping bring anything from the Super Bowl to a dog show to the area have set up links to almost 80 regional stadiums, arenas and specialized venues, including building specs, contacts and seating charts.

The site, created by Culver City-based Apollo Interactive, includes listings of all Southern California sports events and links to every team and school site.

--Among the new facilities to pick from is the Home Depot Center in Carson (www.homedepotcenter.com), a 27,000-seat soccer and 13,000-seat tennis center side-by-side near the 110 and 91 Freeway intersection that'll open with a Golden Spike track and field invitational June 1.

The newly launched Web site has links to order tickets through Ticketmaster, although the June 7 home opener for the Major League Soccer Galaxy is sold out.

--Cell-phone users can download a new basketball video game launched last week by the NBA and Los Angeles-based JAMDAT Mobile Inc. (www.jamdatmoble.com) through Verizon Wireless users (www.verizonwireless.com).

``NBA One-On-One'' runs $1.99 a month or $4.99 for unlimited use. JAMDAT has created cell phone-user games in the past three years for such titles as Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and JAMDAT bowling.
