CYBERSPORTS FUNNY, BUT I DON'T REMEMBER THAT ON `SPORTSCENTER'.

Byline: - Tom Hoffarth

We're going to guess the chances are pretty good you missed the story about how nearly 2,400 fell sick at Wimbledon because of mad-cow disease discovered in the strawberries-and-cream dished up to fans.

Then there was that deal where the Philadelphia 76ers sued former coach Larry Brown for palimony palimony n. a substitute for alimony in cases in which the couple were not married but lived together for a long period and then terminated their relationship. The key issue is whether there was an agreement that one partner would support the other in return for the second making a home and performing other domestic duties beyond sexual pleasures.. And, of course, there's the one about Martha Stewart admitting to corking Sammy Sosa's bat.

Since none of it actually happened, don't worry. You haven't completely checked out. But to check up on any of those faux follies and stuff much more absurd (depending on your perspective), a site called Sportsalicious.com stays true to its motto: ``Sports the way you like it - made up.''

Comedian Jeff Cesario and his brother-in-law Darren Manning have been supplying fresh content each Tuesday since February, although if you check out the ``About Us'' link, they say it really started in 1786 by John Paul Remlicher, ``a budding journalist from Stockholm.'' The ``staff'' claims to be 380 strong, including former Iraqi Minister of Information Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf, who also spent time, they say, as sports information director at Kansas.

--Considering the time change, it'll probably be quicker to get fresh info on the Tour de France for the next few weeks off the official Web site (www.letour.fr), where daily reports are filed in four languages by experts like Phil Liggett, plus video clips and stage previews. It also has a search engine to track down every rider since the first Tour 100 years ago.

(Also, be warned: A dot-com site that reads as though it could be the Tour's official Internet hangout is nothing but a link to pornographic material.)

--The Outdoors Yellow Pages (www.outdoorsyp.com) is more than just a place to find assorted info about camping, ski resorts or fishing vacations. The 20 categories from archery to travel with more than 110,000 listings also has links to stadium seating charts, media, government agencies and ticket brokers.

Or, if you prefer the real deal to hold while your fingers do the walking, it's about $30 with shipping (order it on the site).
