Well, that didn't take long.

Before the XFL even played its first games this weekend, a Web site called www.XFLForever.com went up as the first major nonaffiliated cyberhome for the league (www.xfl.com).

One of the services the unofficial site provides is linking those who need to play in an XFL Fantasy League - yes, they already exist.

Sandbox.net was one of the first to get one going, but others exist now at www.xflfantasyzone.com and www.xflofficepool.com, to single out a couple.

--The ABA 2000 became the first league to stream a live game in its entirety over the Internet when it carried the L.A. Stars' game last Friday against Memphis. Geoff Witcher did the call. Stars general manager Steve Chase says all remaining home games for the team will be Webcast at www.aba2000.com.

--Sporting goods online retailer MVP.com, endorsed and financed by Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan and John Elway, has finally called it quits and was bought out by SportsLine.com.

``One thing we miscalculated was actually the financial burn, how much it takes to keep something like this going,'' Jordan told the Bloomberg News.

Elway served as MVP.com's chairman and Jordan and Gretzky were members of the board. A relaunched site as part of CBS SportsLine.com will be up this spring.

--UltimateBid.com, which offered fans via online auction to buy the chance to spend time with famous athletes at special events, has decided to close shop. It will continue to offer game-ticket bidding as part of a deal with eBay.com.
