Jim Hoadley's Olympic diary, http://www2.gol.com/users/jhoadley/nagan o.html.

Jim Hoadley, a 27-year-old American who has lived in Japan almost four years, says you might find that whipping through his personal Nagano Winter Games

or an over-reliance on the truth.''

So far, so . . . we're not sure yet.

As an Olympic volunteer and spectator in Nagano during the Games - and someone who has seen much of the planning done as well - Hoadley's creation seems reasonably sound.

But as many might find when trying to undertake such a grand project on the Internet, a one-man operation sometimes can't handle the extreme work load.

We bookmarked Hoadley's site before the Games in hopes that by day two he would at least have some sort of time to reflect on the opening ceremonies.

Alas, clicking onto this site Sunday morning Sunday Morning may refer to:
  • "Sunday Morning (radio program)", a Canadian radio program formerly aired on CBC Radio One
  • CBS News Sunday Morning, a television news program on CBS in the United States
  • Sunday Morning (TBS TV series)
(our time), it says it hasn't been updated since Feb. 5. In the instantaneous world of the Internet, of course, that could all change by the time you read this. But we have to smile a bit at thinking about Hoadley's intentions.

What a great idea to give folks back home a place to read about what's happening without the filters of advertising or network whims.

What a great undertaking for one guy who's busy as a volunteer and probably doesn't even have time to sleep.

In the days before the Games, Hoadley managed to put up some pictures of the majestic scenery. We're still waiting for some words.

We understand. And we can be patient having clicked back and forth between CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast.  SportsLine for breaking news and CBS television for nonbreaking news.

And tomorrow, we will return in hopes Hoadley has had time to put up new information. (Meanwhile, check out his other observations of Japan, especially his list of American celebrities who show up in commercials over there, like Tommy Lasorda

But as anyone who's done volunteer work - both in the real world and the Internet - knows, sometimes the best intentions don't end up with the best results.
