CYBERSPORT : SURFING THE RIVIERA.

Byline: Tom Hoffarth

If enjoyed only as a way to soak up the history of the Riviera Country Club The Riviera Country Club is a country club with a championship golf course. It is located in Pacific Palisades, California, within the city limits of Los Angeles, California. The country club opened in 1926, with George C. Thomas, Jr. as the course architect. , then the official Web site for this week's U.S. Senior Open (http://www.ussenioropen98.com) is definitely worth winding through.

Of course, there are much more practical reasons for clicking on than just expanding your knowledge of area landmarks. Bios of the top 25 senior players, ticket information, a day planner to figure out where the best place is to park and shuttle to the course and a daily schedule are there. Plus, there's free membership to a ``personal caddy'' service that not only provides a place to keep track of your own golf dates but remind you in advance when they're coming up.

But borrowing liberally from the book ``Riviera: A definite history,'' the site has Riviera wonderfully covered from old aerial photos down to 3D graphics on each hole and a description on the best way to play them.

Other net notes:
