CWNP Releases CWTSTM Certification.

Certified Wireless Technology Specialist Targets Sales and Support Professionals

ATLANTA -- CWNP (Certified Wireless Network Professional), the recognized industry standard for Wi-Fi certification and training, announced today the introduction of the CWTS(TM) - or Certified Wireless Technology Specialist - certification. The CWTS certification provides foundation-level expertise for professionals entering into, or advancing within, the wireless networking industry. The CWTS program replaces CWNP's "Wireless#" ("Wireless Sharp") certification which will be retired on June 30th.

"CWTS is a natural progression from Wireless#, with a greater focus on Wi-Fi fundamentals," said Devin Akin, CTO and co-founder of CWNP. "The CWTS certification begins with the basics of Radio Frequency (RF) communications and continues with a thorough introduction to enterprise Wi-Fi topics, from equipment and site surveys, to security and administration. We have also included material on the new 802.11n standards amendment."

Akin notes that ever-growing demand to for Wi-Fi enabled applications means that a much broader range of non-technical IT professionals - from sales staff to interface designers to client support teams - need to grasp the fundamentals of Wi-Fi.

"The CWTS certification is the perfect starting point for IT professionals just adding Wi-Fi to their arsenal, and for non-technical professionals in sales, support, or training roles who must understand the fundamentals of Wi-Fi to effectively serve their own clients," added Akin. All CWNP certification programs are vendor-neutral, preparing professionals for real-world WLAN environments involving a variety of equipment, applications and user requirements, rather than focusing on a single vendor product line. The annual salary survey from Certification Magazine found that those with a CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator) certification earned an average salary of $86,170, and those with the CWSP (Certified Wireless Security Professional) certification earned an average salary of $95,120 in 2008.

Preparation for the CWTS Certification can be completed by self study or through a two-day live or online course. In addition, individuals who have a current CWNP Wireless# certification can update their certifications to CWTS at no cost.
